we are on our way to padang to pickup some scientists and drop off others. we
will also hopefully get replacement sheaves so we can take piston cores. using
only gravity cores has been severely limiting. however, great mud stratigraphy.
i will sleep a regular night tonight (at least i hope, we are at marsec II
security -- prates arggh!).
good day/night, jay

Happy to read your posts today.
I loved the bear with the "Hi Mom" postit. Thank you on behalf of all the moms watching the web cam.
I see you a lot of the time... wish I knew who is who. I print out a lot of the photos and share them at work and home. The science teacher, who is a geologist is green with envy. He has done some NSF research during the summers, and is interested in what is going on with you all.
Hope you can get enough data, what with the equiptment failures, and all. Get some rest.
Ps... I noticed a stack of blankets in the research room, and some people wear them wrapped around them. Is it all that cold?
Hope you have enough food to eat.
Take care of your eyes!
Love, Mom
Matt, too.
